What Is High Pressure Tanning?
High pressure tanning (commonly referred to as HP) is the most advanced indoor tanning technology. Most people are only familiar with low pressure tanning beds that utilize the long, tubular body lamps. HP beds are fitted with specialized quartz lamps, reflector systems and filters to generate primarily UVA rays and only a minimum amount of UVB.
Why is this beneficial to me?
- Filtering out UVB rays allows you to tan with a significantly reduced risk of overexposure commonly known as burning
- UVB causes you to not only burn but…your skin exfoliates at a more rapid rate (up to 4x faster) making your tan disappear as this happens
- Our Espresso unit is virtually pure UVA therefore, you maintain your normal exfoliation cycle (28 days)
- This tanning unit allows you to safely achieve a base tan in 3-5 sessions (even a ginger or people with more sensitive skin!) providing immediate colour results!
- You can safely tan in the Espresso for the full 10 minute session as often as every 24 hours should you so choose but, we recommend once every 48 hours in order to allow your full tan to develop after each session.

Are you sure I won't burn?
One of the beautiful things about HP tanning is that the UVB rays are minimal. This makes it much gentler tan and you are able to stay in the unit for the entire session! The odds of overexposures are next to nil. If you are exceptionally fair skinned or have not tanned in a long while, this is the unit to use to start your base.
Why does my tan develop faster?
It’s simple. You are able to stay in the unit longer and let your skin actually tan instead of rushing out because you are afraid you will burn! Picture the perfect tanning environment: golden rays of light warming your skin without the worry of painful sunburn. That extra time spent in the unit is time that the UVA rays need to extend deeper into your skin than other tanning units and, that deeply reached pigment will rise up and show as a tan over the next 2-3 days! Without a doubt, HP tanning is far superior. In salons that have them, the salon owners have all reported that they are their most popular units!
