At JAVA, our Pain-Management services offer non-invasive options designed to support comfort, mobility, recovery and overall wellness. Each session is tailored to the area being treated, the type of discomfort you are experiencing, and your individual goals. We currently offer two distinct treatment options: 10D Red & Green Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and Radiofrequency (RF) Pain Management.
Pain Management services at JAVA are intended to support wellness, comfort and mobility and are not a substitute for medical diagnosis, medical treatment or care from a qualified healthcare professional. Clients with new, severe, unexplained or worsening pain should seek appropriate medical assessment before treatment.
What is LLLT Pain Management?
10D LLLT Pain Management uses red and green low-level laser light as a non-invasive wellness treatment designed to support comfort and recovery in targeted areas of the body.
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of low-intensity light rather than heat-based or surgical laser energy. The light is directed toward the treatment area without cutting, needles or invasive procedures.
The goal of treatment is to support the body’s natural cellular processes and provide a non-invasive option for clients seeking support with discomfort, mobility and recovery.
Treatment is customized according to the area being addressed and the client’s individual needs and wellness goals.
How 10D LLLT Works
10D Red & Green LLLT uses two wavelength ranges: {532nm} green light and {630-660nm} red light
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as photobiomodulation, uses low-intensity light rather than the heat associated with radiofrequency treatments.
The 630-660 nm red wavelengths are commonly used in photobiomodulation because red light can interact with cellular processes and is studied for its potential role in supporting circulation, tissue recovery and the body’s natural response to discomfort.
The 532 nm green wavelength operates at a shorter wavelength and is absorbed more superficially than red light, allowing the 10D system to deliver low-level laser energy at different tissue depths.
Together, the red and green wavelengths provide a non-invasive, non-thermal approach that can be incorporated into a personalized wellness plan based on the treatment area and individual goals.

LLLT at JAVA is not a substitute for post-operative medical care, physiotherapy or rehabilitation prescribed by your healthcare team.
LLLT may be used alongside an appropriate rehabilitation or recovery plan to support comfort and recovery following injury. It does not replace medical assessment, physiotherapy or other treatment when these are required.
Post-Surgical Recovery Support
LLLT may also be incorporated into post-surgical recovery to support the body’s natural healing processes, comfort and tissue recovery. Some clients at JAVA have chosen LLLT during their recovery and have reported noticeable improvements in their healing experience.
Because every surgery and recovery is different, treatment timing and suitability are determined individually. Medical clearance may be required, particularly following recent surgery or when treating directly over or near the surgical area. LLLT is intended to complement – not replace – the post-operative care and instructions provided by your surgeon or healthcare team.
What to Expect During Your LLLT Session
Every LLLT treatment at JAVA begins with a consultation to discuss the area of concern, your current symptoms, relevant health history, previous injuries or procedures, and your wellness and recovery goals.
Once suitability has been determined, the treatment area is positioned for exposure to the 10D system’s 532 nm green and 630-660 nm red low-level laser light. The treatment is non-invasive and non-thermal, with no needles, injections or surgical procedures involved.
During your session, you can relax comfortably while the selected area receives the low-level laser treatment. Because LLLT does not rely on therapeutic heating, the experience is different from RF Pain Management, which uses radiofrequency energy to create controlled warming within the treatment area.
Treatment plans are individualized. The number and frequency of sessions recommended will depend on the area being addressed, the nature and duration of the concern, your response to treatment and your individual goals.
For clients recovering from an injury, surgery or another medical procedure, appropriate medical clearance will be required before treatment.

LLLT Safety & Contraindications
Your safety is an important part of every treatment at JAVA. Before your first 10D Red & Green LLLT session, we will review your health history, medications, the area of concern and any recent injuries, surgeries or medical procedures to determine whether treatment is appropriate.
LLLT may not be appropriate, or medical clearance may be required, if you:
- Are pregnant or may be preganant
- Have active cancer, a suspected malignancy or are currently undergoing cancer treatment
- Have an active infection, significant skin irritation or an open wound in the treatment area
- Have a condition that causes photosensitivity
- Take medications known to increase sensitivity to light
- Have unexplained, severe, sudden or worsening pain that has not been medically assessed
- Have recently undergone surgery or another medical procedure and have not yet been cleared for additional treatment
- Have reduced or altered sensation in the treatment area
- Have a medical condition for which your healthcare provider has advised against light-based therapy
Eye protection is required during laser treatment. Always tell us about medications, medical conditions, recent procedures and changes in your health before treatment.
If there is any concern about whether LLLT is appropriate for you, treatment may be postponed until clearance is obtained from your healthcare provider. – please disclose this during consultation so treatment timing and suitability can be determined.
Treatment Planning & Follow-up
Treatment plans are individualized based on the area being addressed, how long the concern has been present, your response to treatment, and your overall wellness goals.
Some clients may notice changes after only one session, while others may benefit from a longer treatment plan. Frequency and number of sessions will vary from person to person.
Progress can be reassessed throughout your treatment plan, and recommendations may be adjusted based on how you are responding.
Follow-up sessions are scheduled through the front desk after your initial consultation and treatment.

RF Pain Management
RF pain management is a non-invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to produce controlled therapeutic warmth within the targeted tissues. Unlike LLLT, which uses low-level light without relying on heat, RF uses carefully controlled warming to support circulation, relaxation and comfort in the treatment area.
The treatment is customized according to the area of concern, your individual needs and your wellness goals. Your initial session includes a consultation to review your concerns, relevant health history and treatment suitability before RF treatment begins.
How RF Pain Management Works
Radiofrequency therapy uses controlled RF energy that passes into the targeted tissues, where it is converted into therapeutic warmth. This controlled heating response can increase local blood flow and circulation while helping tight or overworked muscles relax.
Increased circulation helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the treatment area while supporting the body’s natural recovery processes. The warming effect may also help reduce feelings of muscular tightness and stiffness, making movement more comfortable.
Unlike 10D LLLT, which uses red and green low-level laser light and does not rely on heat, RF uses controlled thermal energy as part of the treatment. The intensity is adjusted throughout the session according to the treatment area and the client’s comfort.

What to Expect During Your RF Session
Your initial RF Pain Management appointment begins with a consultation to discuss the area of concern, your symptoms, relevant health history, previous injuries or procedures, and your individual comfort, mobility and recovery goals.
Once treatment suitability has been determined, RF energy is applied to the targeted area to gradually produce controlled therapeutic warmth within the tissues. Treatment is adjusted according to the area being addressed and your individual comfort throughout the session.
Most clients experience a comfortable warming sensation during treatment. Communication is encouraged throughout the session so the treatment can be adjusted as needed.
RF is non-invasive and requires no needles, injections, or surgical procedures. Following treatment, the area may continue to feel warm and relaxed for a period of time.
Treatment frequency and the number of sessions recommended will vary depending on the area being addressed, how long the concern has been present, your response to treatment and your individual goals.
Your initial appointment includes your consultation and RF treatment so an individualized treatment plan can be developed based on your needs.
Safety and Contraindications
Your safety is an important part of every RF Pain Management treatment at JAVA. Before your first session, your health history, medications, area of concern, previous injuries and recent medical or surgical procedures will be reviewed to determine whether RF treatment is appropriate.
RF Treatment may not be appropriate, or medical clearance may be required, if you:
- Are pregnant or may be pregnant
- Have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or other implanted electronic device
- Have metal implants, plates, screws or other metal in or near the proposed treatment area
- Have active cancer, a suspected malignancy or a currently undergoing cancer treatment
- Have an active infection, fever or significant skin infection in the treatment area
- Have open wounds, burns, significant skin irritation or compromised skin in the treatment area
- Have impaired or significantly reduced sensation in the area, which could prevent you from accurately sensing heat
- Have significant circulatory or vascular concerns affecting the treatment area
- Have a history of blood clots or a suspected or known clot in the treatment area
- Have unexplained swelling, redness, warmth or acute inflammation that has not been medically assessed
- Have recently experienced an acute injury where therapeutic heating may not yet be appropriate
- Have recently undergone surgery or another medical procedure – please disclose this during your consultation so treatment suitability and timing can be determined
- Have a medical condition for which your healthcare provider has advised against radiofrequency or heat-based treatments
Please disclose all medical conditions, medications, implanted devices, metal implants, recent injuries and procedures during your consultation. If there is uncertainty about whether RF is appropriate, treatment may be postponed until medical clearance is obtained

RF Pain Management treatment plans are individualized based on the area being addressed, the nature and duration of your discomfort, your response to treatment and your overall wellness goals.
Some clients may choose RF for occasional muscular tension or stiffness, while others may benefit from a series of treatments as part of an ongoing comfort, mobility and recovery plan.
Your progress and response to RF can be reassessed throughout your treatment plan, and the frequency of sessions may be adjusted according to your individual needs.

Session Plans
All session plans are non-refundable and non-transferable. Sessions must be used within one year from the date of purchase and may be scheduled at any time during that 12 month period, based on your individual treatment plan and availability.
Follow-up sessions and treatment plans are purchased and scheduled through the front desk.
Pain Management Services at JAVA are privately paid and are NOT covered by OHIP.
Some extended health benefit plans, employer wellness programs, health spending accounts or wellness allowances may provide reimbursement for eligible wellness services. Coverage and eligibility vary by individual plan.
Clients are encouraged to check with their insurance provider, employer or plan administrator before purchasing if they intend to seek reimbursement. JAVA provides receipts for services purchased but cannot guarantee coverage or reimbursement by any third-party plan.
